The current incarnation of the Red Sam is an exacting replica of a particular Tone Bender MKI given away as a prize in a raffle back in the 1960s. I tune these units for huge sustain and the perfect balance between searing distortion and crisp attack all through the first 50% of the attack knob, while the latter 50% over-biases the second transistor resulting in increasingly compressed and blooming fuzz tones. All the classic sounds of a perfect MKI are in here.
