RAFFLE TICKET FOR KEN SANDERS RARE BOOKS
Ken Sanders Rare Books is, as far as I'm concerned, the most important place in Salt Lake City. During my impressionable teen years, the hours I spent in Ken's shop probably saved me from sleepwalking through a life I never wanted. Debating the merits of detective novels, sitting on piles of pulp paperbacks, loitering way too long—Ken tolerated me and countless other knuckleheads who needed frequent breaks from the Utah mono-culture outside his doors.
Ken's shop is a place out of time: a menagerie of yellowy pages, spooky portraits, hand-scrawled confessions, crumbly maps, and unnumbered other oddities spilling from tunnels with book spines for walls.
Whether you're after a 25-cent airplane novel or a mint first-edition of The Moviegoer, Ken will patiently, warmly show you around.
Like so many other treasured shops across the U.S., shifting consumer landscapes—and a damn pandemic—threaten to erase this critical landmark of Utah culture.
Let's help ensure Ken can continue changing lives with his priceless shop:
1. Purchase a $10 USD raffle ticket right here (buy as many as you want!)
2. Sign up for my email list (on the homepage YOU MUST BE ACTIVELY SIGNED UP TO WIN)
and you'll have a shot at a special Brierly Tone Bender. Flat mulberry finish (my fav); stamped logo and serial number under amber shellac; Mullard OC76 pair; Piher and Alan Bradley resistors; Iskra and CDE capacitors; UK vero board; shielded signal runs; and a special back plate featuring the lacquered title page from one of the first old books I bought on Ken's recommendation. I tuned this baby for gobs of fuzz, sustain, and sputtering decay (though it still cleans up great).
Let's do this.
I'll select the winner on 06-12-21 and publish the results via my email list.
All money raised beyond parts costs will go directly to Ken Sanders Rare Books. I will post the final donation receipt upon raffle completion.
